Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
AVOID COSTLY LITIGATION
Litigation is expensive – it costs a lot of money, is time consuming, and can take an emotional toll on the parties involved in the case.
On the other hand, mediation and arbitration are inexpensive and effective alternatives to resolving your dispute in a courtroom.
I approach every case first with a view towards resolving it through reasonable negotiation. With the informed consent of my client. When the circumstances are right, I will also recommend mediation or other methods of alternative dispute resolution.
MEDIATION AND ARBITRATION
In many instances, I’ve found common ground between different sides of a dispute that can serve as a starting place for thoughtful, reasonable negotiations. When the relationship between parties to a dispute will continue after the case is over (for example, in a landlord-tenant dispute where the tenancy continues after the case is resolved), mediation can be an extremely desireable way to find a solution that works for both sides.
When mediation is not appropriate, is unlikely to succeed, or has been attempted unsuccessfully, independent, third-party arbitration can also be a very cost effective and relatively quick way to resolve your dispute outside of court.
GETTING RESULTS, COST-EFFECTIVELY
Ultimately, my objective is to get you a satisfactory outcome – efficiently and cost-effectvely. Mediation and arbitration are two methods of dispute reolution that I have employed very successfully for others and may be able to do the same for you.
Not every case is suitable for alternative dispute resolution, and if we determine that because of the unique circumstances of your case, you can get a better outcome through aggressive litigation, I will let you know so that you can make a fully informed decision about the path that seems right for you.
